Series Producer
Huw Cordey

Huw’s first break in wildlife film production came at Partridge Films where, apart from logging copious quantities of footage from the field, he made educational children’s programmes for National Geographic and other US clients. In 1992, he joined Mike Birkhead Associates and worked on two BBC Natural World programmes. The first was on prairie dogs in the Badlands, the second was on the Grand Canyon, both involved a year spent in the field.  From 1995 until June 2009 he was based at the BBC Natural History Unit and worked on some of their biggest landmark series including Land of the Tiger, Andes to Amazon, Life of Mammals, Planet Earth and most recently South Pacific.

The series mentioned above were the recipients of various awards but Planet Earth has been the most successful in that regard winning, amongst other awards, four Emmys . Since its release, Planet Earth has sold over 5 million copies worldwide making it one of the biggest selling series in the BBC’s history.  Following Planet Earth’s UK transmission several members of the team appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, which dedicated a whole programme to the series.
